Unit Objective(s)/Overview:

Students will:

  1. Gain a deeper understanding for the Biometric, facial recognition.
  2. Gain a deeper understanding for the social implications involved in using facial recognition.
  3. Engage in computer usage such as, internet research, responding & posting in a blog format, and using FACES software.
  4. Identify and measure specific nodal points of the face.
  5. Using nodal point measurement information, hypothesize, compare & determine face matches.
  6. Analyze face match results - why is facial recognition a good or bad biometric to use in different situations.

2 copies each of 6 teacher created faces using the FACES software,
OR from the faces internet document

Teacher Copy: For line up:  Measurement template with fictitious names
 
Student Copy: For disguising, measuring, & match hypothesis.

 Metric rulers, colored pencils or markers for disguising "wanted person".
