Pre-Requisite Skills
This lesson be taught
in the second semester of the school year. The student needs prior
knowledge of child development.

KWLH Design Chart

Procedure
- The teacher will review the elements of design using a KWLH
Design Chart.
- The teacher will review the National
Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) guidelines
for designing a Child Development Center.
- The teacher will divide students into four groups.
- The teacher will announce the PROBLEM.
- The student will actively participate in the group to complete
the design project. The teacher will give Daily Grades for this active
participation.
- The student will create/design their Child Development Center
in one week. The student will orally present their project using
a PowerPoint Presentation.
- Reflection: The student will type a summary/reflection
of what they learned, liked, disliked.
Differentiated Instruction
Consult your student's IEP, SAT's, and other special needs.
Collaboration
Possible guest speakers could include personnel in the design field,
Child Development Coordinator's, Biometrics personnel. Collaboration with
the Technology or Business instructor's.
Author's Comments
This project could be presented to a local college or university to
have their design/engineering departments to design the Child Development
Center with their current design program.
