Pre-Requisite Skills

False acceptance rate, false rejection rate and threshold for student's biometric device

21st Century Tools (Technology Tools)

Calculator, Excel

Instructional Materials

Lesson2 worksheet

Procedure

Using their information from lesson1worksheet.doc, the students will use lesson2worksheet to calculate the threshold for a given number of devices, false acceptance rates, false rejection rates, the time it would take to admit the number of fans, how many devices would be needed and the cost to implement their mode of security.  The students will then organize data and make graphs using Excel to compare and analyze data to arrive at a final consensus about which biometric security mode their company will employ.

Differentiated Instruction

Student's are working in groups so they may have extra time for their portion of the project and see student's individualized educational plan.
