with spoofing hand geometry and the real thing
Time Required
2 - 45 minute sessions
Pre-Requisite Skills
Completion of Lesson 1
.
21st Century Tools (Technology Tools)
Computer and access
to the internet
Instructional Materials
HAND
MOLD
(See list of materials)
Procedure
DAY ONE
- Have students work in heterogeneous groups to create a mold
of their own hand by utilizing HAND
MOLD directions
- Place hands in a safe place to dry for the next day's activities
DAY TWO
- Discuss the video from Lesson One and how he spoofed the system
- As a class brainstorm a list of ways to spoof Biometrics hand
readers
- Discuss the validity of the brainstormed ways to spoof.
- Using their HAND MOLD, students are to assess whether they
can spoof a system with those hands by taking the measurements again.
- Students will culminate the day by responding to a Journal
entry such as: Describe whether you could spoof the system by using
your hand mold. Explain why or why not. Explain how to improve
your mold.
Differentiated Instruction
A Blog may be created using www.blogspot.com
to allow the students to Blog their journal answers.
Collaboration
This lesson can be crossed into mathematics with
the measurements and Social Studies with the discussions of social justice.
