Title: An Overview of A Christmas Sampler

Grade Levels:  7 and 8 (This lesson can be adapted to other grade levels.)

Subjects:  English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math

Unit Overview:

Students will be using the customs, traditions, music, and history associated with the Christmas season while they practice research skills,  creating multimedia presentations, writing skills, and converting measurements to the metric system.  Each lesson is independent of the others so that teachers may choose what is appropriate for their students and the time available.
Teacher Notes:
Be sensitive to students who do not observe holidays.  An alternative assignment may be necessary.

The lessons in this unit were designed to be conducted in groups.  It is suggested that groups be arranged heterogeneously to accommodate students of various ability levels.  A good arrangement is to have one group for each available computer.

Since the lessons all involve Internet sites, consider bookmarking the sites to which links have been provided to make best use of class time.
