Day 1
Journal Writing: Before reading write your definition of a hero. Characterize a war hero.
Read assigned excerpt from chapter 1 of Crane's The Red Badge of Courage. (The part where Henry fantasizes the glories of war and being a hero)
Form groups to discuss Henry's fantasy.
Continue to conduct internet searches from several civil war sites in link collecting information for Day 3.
Day 3
Students will use page design software and graphics to create a poster celebrating the hero. Poster should include a title of celebration, brief article explaining the person's role in the war, a photo if possible, any graphics that thematically enhance the poster.
Day 4
Continuation of day 3 working on posters
