Technology Tools: Computer, printer, Print Shop software

Teacher Notes: The invitations can be made with many types of productivity software.

Procedures:
    1.  As a class, brainstorm the things that are necessary on an invitation.
                Who       What      Where      When     Why

      2.  Discuss the need for an invitation for the parent presentation of the student's
monologue.  Decide on the who, what, where, when, why  for the presentations.

      3.  Using a projection device, demonstrate how to create a invitation using the software.
Explain that each invitation should have an image on the front.  The necessary
components of an invitation should appear on the inside.

      4.  Put students together in groups of 2-4 to work on the computer.  Remind students
to make decisions as a group.

      5.  Once students have created their invitation, they should save and print enough copies
for the members in their group.

Modifications: The small groups should allow all students to participate no matter what their needs may be. Assemble groups so that there is a variety of students within each group.

Enrichment Activities: Depending on the number of computers in your class and the amount of time, students could add details/images to the inside and back.  Students could decide on a trademark name for their group and place on the back of the card.

Evaluation/Assessment: Assess student understanding by looking for the neccessary components on the invitations.  An image should also be part of each groups invitation.
