Materials: Individual copies of the Internet Challenge worksheet
Technology Tools: Computer with Internet capabilities, projection device such as scan converter, data projector or LCD panel, printer
Teacher Notes: This activity could be teacher directed or a lab activity with students working in small groups of 2-4. Could also be a station activity or homework. Teachers should bookmark all websites to provide easier navigation for students. The answers to the Interent Challenge can be found in the Reference section.
Procedures:
1.
Teacher will demonstrate navigating the web site using a projection device.
2.
Using the Internet web site WV Online
and the Internet Challenge
worksheet
students will answer the questions about West Virginia.
Modifications: Non-readers should be paired with a reader. Visually impaired students should be provided with a large screen monitor.
Enrichment Activities: Find another West Virginia site and generate five questions about that site for others. Look under References for some good websites to bookmark for this activity.
Evaluation/Assessment: Worksheets
should be checked for accurate and complete information. Assess students
for responsible work habits at computer work station.
