TEACHER NOTES:
1. Schedule computer lab.
PROCEDURES:
1. Students will research 5 butterflies on the internet
using at least 3 sites of the following sites:
NA
Butterflies; Ireland
Butterflies; Display
Case; Butterflies Worldwide;
Valley of
Butterflies;
British
Butterflies.
2. For each butterfly, students will collect the
following information:
common name; scientific name; habitat; preferred food
as larvae and adult; general ecology; and
interesting facts.
3. Copy a picture of each butterfly.
4. Group presentation.
5. Class discussion of Lepidopterans: characteristics;
metamorphosis; habitats; ecology.
MODIFICATIONS:
Lesson will be adjusted according to the IEP of the students.
ENRICHMENT:
1. Students can access BUTTERFLY
HOUSE BUILDING PLANS on the internet and make a butterfly house.
2. Students may write to various Butterfly
Organizations to get information for a class report.
