Title:  Lighthouse Scavenger Hunt

Grade Level:  Third and Fourth

Time Frame: two-30 minute periods

Materials:  Florida Lighthouse sites, http://users.erols.com/lthouse/home.htm, worksheet, answer sheet

Technology Tools/Courseware:  Internet sites, Cyber Patrol

Teacher Notes:  Have sites ready and worksheets ready to download or hard copies prepared.

Procedures:
Session 1

Session 2 Procedures: Modifications:
By working in cooperative groups students will be grouped according to special needs.  As an example students that have trouble staying on task may be grouped with a child that has good work habits, or a child that has reading difficulties may be grouped with a child that reads well.

Enrichment:
Provide an Internet site that shows a timeline of important events in
lighthouse history. http://www.mariner.org/baylink/time7.html
Send e-mail postcards to the teacher and classmates using the Lighthouse Postcard site (http://www.worldlights.com/world/postoffice.html)

Evaluation:  Questions answered on Scavenger Hunt worksheet. Cooperative Group score sheet.  Check e-mail message from the Lighthouse Postcard site written by the students.
