Learner Outcomes: 
    Students will describe how to safely escape from a home fire. 

Duration of lesson:  2 - 30 minute class periods 

Materials: 
    None 

Technology Tools/Courseware: 
    Computers with Internet access 

Teacher Notes: 
     Get parental permission slips for field trip to local fire department duplicated , passed out, and returned. 

Procedures: 
    1.) Field trip to fire department 
    2.) Divide class into two groups and allow them to visit one of the two web sites  concerning fire safety.: 
            Sparky the Fire Dog
            Escape rules in a fire

Modifications: 
    None 

Enrichment Activities: 
    Fire Escape Plans

Evaluation/Assessment: 
    Students will be divided into groups of 4.  Within the group the student will demonstrate how to crawl to safety and share a fire safety tip learned either from the field trip to the fire department or from the Internet.
