All Internet sites are listed under references
Procedures:
-
Students will discuss within their group how their budget
compares to a Recommended Guideline BudgetSites
listed in references can also be explored.

Students will develop a written report covering the following
categories: graded activities
Largest two areas of spending
Two areas in which they could cut costs
Amount of savings possible
One goal the family has planned together for the future
How their budget compares to the above Recommended Guideline Budget
How their ideas have changed with regard to forming a budget prior to this
lesson on budgeting.

Modifications:

Students will develop a circle graph by changing percentages
to degrees by using a protractor.

This lesson may need to be modified according to the students
IEP.
Enrichment Activities:

Using this Excel chart Unlocked
Budget for Students to Complete students will
develop a budget and analyze it with a circle graph depicting spending
percentages based on their budget data. This
link will allow students to creat graphs,, but they will need to be familiar
with Excel (or other spreadsheet program) in order to create their own
spreadsheet and charts.

Students will write a short report comparing their real family
budget with the Recommended Guideline Budget
