Learner Outcomes: Students will create their own quizzes from their biography reading journal.
Duration of Lesson: one 45 minute lesson.
Materials:Biography reading journal from reading biography lesson. Students book copy of Biography.
Technology Tools/Courseware: Multi-media computers with Internet access. Bookmark quiz makers QUIA, and Fun Brain.
Teacher
Notes:
Prior to this lesson it is important that
the classroom teacher log into the quiz maker of their
choice.
Teachers
must open Fun Brain by logging in with their password and then open the
Create New
Quiz window. Fun Brain is a free web site. You should not release
your teacher password to
the students.
If
using Quia the classroom teacher must create an account for the classroom.This
account is
free. The teacher will then open the Create a Quiz( basic type) window.
Teachers
need to submit an email account if they want to keep track of the students'
assessments.
Procedures:
1. To create biography quizzes the teacher must first decide which
of the two quiz makers they
will be using.
2. After deciding which quiz maker they will be using the classroom teacher
should open the
program by logging on with their user name and password then open the quiz
maker window
that will allow the students to create their biography quiz on-line. If
the teacher wishes
to keep track of the scores made on these quizzes they must provide their
email address.
3. Direct students to first create their quiz questions on paper
then to type them into the
quiz maker program.
4. Allow time for other students to try the quizzes that have been submitted
on the internet.
Modifications:
Teachers
may need to use partners with those students having difficulty typing their
quiz questions.
Enrichment Activities:
Students can choose to create a variety of
quizzes on Fun Brain.
Students can choose to create quizzes on both Fun
Brain and QUIA
Evaluation/Assessment:
Evaluation of the quizzes will be from the
assessment that Fun Brain and QUlA
will send by email to the classroom teacher. These assessments will be
scored with
percentage correct including the names of the students taking the tests.
