Learner Outcomes:
Students will be able to access answers from selected sites on Internet.
Duration of Lesson:
Two 30 minute computer class periods
Materials:
Computer with Internet access for each student, paper, pencil
Technology Tools/Courseware:
Internet, Celebrate
the States! WebQuest
Teacher Notes:

Teacher will preview the
websites prior to lesson. Bookmark the WebQuest
page.

While students are on
the WebQuest,
the teacher should check the temperatures
for the following cities and figure out the answers for the city weather
questions 18 - 20: Tallahassee, FL, Boston,MA, Atlanta, GA,
Columbus, OH, Seattle, WA, Austin, TX

Students should be familiar
with websites to be accessed.
Procedures:
1.
Have each student get out their lined notebook paper and a pencil.
2. Have students log onto the Internet and go to the Bookmarks.
Have them select the WebQuest
bookmark and open the webpage.
3. Explain to the students that they are to find the answer to each
question on the WebQuest by
going to websites about the subject. [Click on the underlined word
in each question.]
4. When they find an answer, they are to write it on their answer
paper. Remind students to number
their answers according the to question.
5. When students have completed their Webquest, have them place their
answer sheets in their
States folder.
6. Check and score answers.
Modifications:
Students may be assigned a reading buddy to help with reading, completion
of questions and website search.
Enrichment Activities:

Have
students create their own Webquests and exchange with partners.

Have students select
one of the places they visited on the Internet and do further research
about it.

Select one of the websites
listed on the States Virtual Tour. Write a critique about.

Make a slide show about
landforms. Go to http://hammer.ne.mediaone.net/landforms/html/landforms.html
for ideas for other landforms.
