1. Students will have a signed Acceptable Use Policy and the teacher will keep it on file.
2. Have the students illustrations from previous lesson on hand.
3. Develop a 6 slide Power Point presentation by week's end.* 2 slides of Dr. Seuss' life4. Use computer to link to bookmark sites.
* 2 slides pertaining to his books
* 2 slides on careers
5. Continue photographing students with the digital camera.
6. Make copies of the song, "Dr. Seuss, We Love You" for the students.
7. Have several of Dr. Seuss' books on hand for research of trivia questions.
1. Teacher will begin the day reviewing the story, And to Think That I Saw It On Mulberry
Street
2. Reread the story to the class showing Dr. Seuss' illustrations.
3. Have students share their illustrations from the previous lesson.
4. Post illustrations in the hallway for all to enjoy.
5. Have the students write Dr. Seuss trivia questions and answers on door knob hangers.
6. Students will place the trivia hangers throughout the building.
7. Distribute copies of the sheet music, "Dr. Seuss, We Love You", to the class. Download the music and allow the students to sing along.
8. Play the game, Dr. Seuss Bingo (Game Card) (Bingo Words)
1. Provide a tape of the music and headphones for students to use in a listening center.
2. Work in Cooperative Learning Groups or pairs to write trivia questions.
3. Provide trivia questions and answers to the special needs students and have them copy the information to the doorknob hangers.
1. Have students write their own music for a Dr. Seuss book. Use as a resource.
2. For a school wide lesson, the entire school can be turned Topsy-turvy for the day. As students enter the building, have usual objects out of place.
Such as:
(a.) turning tables or desks upside down,
(b.) the principal sitting in the secretary's chair,
(c.) a teacher making the morning announcements,
(d.) switching name plates on teacher's doors, etc.Make some things VERY OBVIOUS and others VERY SUBTLE. Remember, your school probably has Kindergarten through 5th grade students. Have enough things "out-of-the-ordinary" so that a contest could be held. By 10:00 in the morning, have the students list as many of the unusual items as possible. The student with the highest number identified would win the book, And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street. An adaptation of this contest is to give the winner from each room/grade level a book.
1. Have each student write 3-5 trivia questions and answers. Grade on content and correct sentence formation and grammar.
2. Grade and record only individual work, not that completed in cooperative groups.
3. Grade Power Point presentation at week's end.
