Teacher Procedures:
1. Two separate "habitats" will need to be created. This should be done approximately 3-5 days before you begin the experiment. Take two 2 liter bottles and plant a couple of plants in the bottom of each bottle. Label one bottle "Habitat 1" and the other bottle "Habitat 2".
2. See supply list for materials needed for experiment.
Student Procedures:
1. After the two habitats are established and growing, you will begin to conduct an experiment to see how acid rain can affect your environment.
2. This experiment will be conducted over a three to five day time frame.
3. Every day, water both habitats. Habitat 1 will be watered using plain water.
4. Habitat 2 will be watered using water and approximately 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.
5. Each day, you will observe any changes in either habitat and document on the Acid Rain Discovery Sheet provided by your teacher.
6. At the end of the experiment, you will be required to turn in the Acid Rain Discovery Sheet and any other notes to your teacher as part of your Endangered Animal Unit project grade.
