Learner Outcomes:
The students will
1. draw their endangered animal on an index card and label it (this could be done using a Paint program).
2. locate all habitats of their endangered species on a world map posted in the classroom by marking the map with the index card above.
3. locate all habitats of the endangered species on a world map that will be used as part of their endangered animal journal.

Teacher Notes:
1. Teacher must have classroom world map posted for student use.Procedures:
2. Teacher must provide individual world maps and index cards for the activity.
3. Teacher must provide individual Daily Summary Pages for each student.
1. The groups will create their endangered animal index card pictures (a labeled picture of their endangered animal) to be posted on the classroom map. This activity could be created using a Paint program.
2. If the endangered animal is found in many locations on the world map, the group will need to address that concept to the class.
3. The teacher should engage the students in a class and group discussion about why certain animals are found in more than one location on the map.
4. Students will work in groups to complete their individual world maps. All endangered species will need to be present.
5. Map legends need to be created in groups for the individual world maps.
6. Through class and group discussion, the students will formulate opinions about the relationship between their endangered animal's location and its status on the endangered list.
