Learner Outcomes:  Students will:

• search the web for sites showing different table settings and etiquette of guest placement
• demonstrate the proper way to set a holiday table
• make and decorate Thanksgiving place cards

Materials:

• card table (optional )
• table cloth, holiday napkins and plates
• utensils (knives, forks and spoons)
• holiday centerpiece
• construction paper, colored markers, straight wooden clothespin, black pipe cleaners, 1 liter plastic bottle with cap, glue, paper plate, craft knife

Technology Tools/Courseware:

• internet access and browser

• Acceptable use policy must be signed by all students and parents/guardians and must be on file.
• When doing the craft, the teacher should previously have cut the tops off the bottles so students do not need to use the craft knife.

• research the rules of etiquette
• view holiday table decorations
• view table settings
•  practice setting a holiday table
•  design holiday place cards using materials provided

Enrichment Activities:

• students may create a holiday craft at home together with their families and bring it in to present and share in the classroom.

• demonstrate a holiday table setting
• be able to write 5 rules of etiquette in their journal
• complete the holiday craft
