This
lesson allows students to transfer data (soldiers' ages) from a spreadsheet
to a stem and leaf plot. Students will use the stem and leaf
plot to find mean, median, mode and range. Students will transfer
the name of towns into a frequency table.

Modifications:
Students will work in pairs to
interpret spreadsheet and make stem and leaf plots.
Enrichment activities:
Students could use the internet
to find muster rolls or enlistment records from other regions or wars and
compare averages of soldiers ages.
