Day 1
1.  Use a projection device to display BrainPop's Buoyancy.
2.  Explain  Archimedes Principle of Buoyancy.
3.  Groups students into groups of 2 to 3 and have the conduct the Buoyancy Experiment .
     Students are to record their observations.

Day 2
1.  Have students do a KWL chart on what water safety rules they already know.
2.  Brainstorm about what you should do in case of a water emergency.  List responses
     for all students to see.  Review the 911 procedures from lesson 1.
3.  Use a projection device to display the  Water Safety Tips  then  display the site
       911 Safety .  You will need to scroll down until you find the 911 Safety link.  Discuss
     the safety tips with the class and have them make additions and corrections to their KWL
     charts.
4.  Take the Red Cross Water Safety Quiz.
5.  Practice Reach and Throw techniques at a pool (if available) or outside on dry land.

Day 3
1.  Have students use a word processing program to write a story about a water rescue.
     Students should include a water safety tip and utilize information presented in this lesson.
2.  Print coloring page  " Color the Beach" (Select "Safety Activities" to find the coloring page) to put in the safety manual in lesson 6.

Modifications:
Take into consideration any IEP/504 plans.

Enrichment:
Compare buoyancy in salt water to fresh water by doing  Buoyancy Experiments.
