Teacher Notes:

Procedures:
1. Provide each student with a copy of the car or mini van shape book.
2. Instruct students to list all they ways they can stay safe while riding in a car on their shape book.
3. Have students complete the Seat belt survey.
4. Instruct students to read the Seat Belt Safety article on the internet. Then, using Microsoft Word or
    other word processor program, have students write a brief summary of the article.
4. Hold a class discussion using the following Safety Tips lesson plan as a guide.
5. Next, discuss with students the correct way to wear a safety belt.  Use the Seat Belt Systems website
    to aid in your discussion.
6. Along with volunteers, take students outside and let them practice the correct way to wear a safety belt.
7. As a concluding activity, have students take the a Safety belt quiz and complete a Seat belt safety
    pledge card

Modifications:
Take into consideration any IEP/504 plans of your students.
