Learner outcomes:
- Student will be able to list
and identify each of the S.M.A.R.T. rules
for Internet safety.
- Students will be able to write
a brief essay explaining the potential dangers that may be encountered on
the Internet.
Duration of Lesson: one 50 minute
class period

Technology tools/Courseware:
- Computer with Internet access
- Word processing program
Teacher Notes:
Make sure all students
have signed Acceptable Use Policies on file.
Procedures:
- Take students to the computer
lab.
- Direct students to Kidsmart web site.
- Have students click on "Smart Moves" icon
to bring up the S.M.A.R.T. rules for safe Internet usage.
- Discuss S.M.A.R.T. rules with
students.
Modifications:
Possible modifications include:
- For physically impaired students
use touch screen, trackball or Intellimouse if available.
- For visually impaired students
increase font size.
- For mentally impaired students
allow extra time or place student with a partner.
