"Jack and Jill" Picture ID

Jack and Jill ID blank photo template
Jack and
Jill picture/rhyme template
Jack and Jill sample
Digital photo
of each child with prop

Teacher notes:
Teacher
might need to review computer procedures.
Students
must be able to use the computer and mouse.
Take
a digital picture of each student with prop used in reciting rhyme prior
to this lesson.
Teacher
will need to rename each child's picture with
his or her name.
Place
shortcut of Jack and Jill picture/rhyme template
on computer desktop each student will be using. An example of a completed picture id and a Jack and Jill ID blank photo template
is shown.
Teacher
will need to place pictures in Jack and Jill file so it can be easily viewed
when the picture is being searched.
Teacher
will cut picture ID to a 6 inches wide by 4 inches high and laminate.
Depending
on the number of computers available, the time to complete this activity
will vary.
Session 1
Procedures:
1. Recite together "Jack and Jill". Divide class into half and repeat
rhyme.
2. Using data projector and laser pointer review computer terms:

3. Student will open Microsoft Word on desktop as teacher models each step
below using data projector and laser pointer.
4. Students will click on the word Insert...Picture...From file .
5. Students will click on file named Jack and Jill.
6. Student will find their name and click on it.
7. Student will click on the word Insert.
8. Students will view their work.
Session
2
Procedures:
1. Student will open the shortcut on desktop labeled template .
2. Students will click on the word Insert...Picture...From file.
3. Students will click on file named Jack and Jill.
4. Student will find their name and click on it.
5. Student will click on the word Insert.
6. Student will click the enter key two times.
7. Student will type his or her name.
8. Student will click the words File, Print Preview.
9. The teacher will check and then print it for student.
10. Student will retrieve document from printer and give it to the teacher.

3
Procedures:
Those students who still need to complete activity, will repeat above directions
listed again below.
1. Student will open the shortcut on desktop labeled template .
2. Students will click on the word Insert...Picture...From file.
3. Students will click on file named Jack and Jill.
4. Student will find their name and click on it.
5. Student will click on the word Insert.
6. Student will click the enter key two times.
7. Student will type his or her name.
8. Student will click the words File, Print Preview.
9. The teacher will check and then print it for student.
10. Student will retrieve document from printer and give it to the teacher.
Session
4
1. After the teacher has trimmed document and laminated the photos, the
picture ID's will be given to students.
2. Students will share with each other their ID's.
3. Teacher will review how document was made.
4. Students will display ID's in room.
Modifications:
All
modifications for each IEP and 504 document will be made.
Students
may be paired for activity.
Have
chart of computer terms for students to view
Some
students may need one-on-one help from aide or parent volunteer. Students
will also assist one another.
Enrichment Activities:
Student
may insert pictures into a Word document using other Nursery Rhyme pictures
taken during unit.
Student
may learn how to insert clip art documents into Word documents.
Student
may learn how to change style and size of font.
Students
may learn how to insert picture onto a template
to design a bookmark.
Evaluation/Assessment:
ID photo will be given to each student who has completed the activity.
