Learner Outcomes:

    The student will:

• Read and follow instructions while participating in a simulation game--Dumptown in "Recycle City".
• Manage waste in Dumptown, organizing recycling programs.
• Discover ways to reduce waste and make choices to change Dumptown into "Recycle City".

Materials:

• Computers with Internet access

• Computers with Internet access (Lab setting would be the ideal situation so all students would be working at the same time).

• Urge students to read and follow instructions before beginning game.
• Teacher will circulate around the lab to assist students with questions or concerns.

• Students (working in groups with size of group determined by the number of Internet accessible computers) will locate the Recycle City site and proceed by following the directions of the simulation game.

     Teachers should determine the pairing of students so students with special needs will be assisted during lesson activities.

• Observation of  participation
• Self Check:  Reduce the amount of paper going to the landfill, remove organic wastes from streams, stay within budget, removal of waste with no cost to the city within the simulation game.
