Modifications:
Students with special needs who are unable to read the story independently can have the story read to them. The writing activity could be dictated to the teacher by students not able to write the sentences themselves. The teacher could write the student's sentences on the boat, then the student could complete their boat.
Enrichment Activities:
Assess information presented in students' oral presentations and the completion of the K-W-L charts and on the boat writing activity.
