   To search various sources for information related to the topic
   To print out or photocopy relevant information
   To develop a working bibliography using MLA format

Time Frame:  5 class periods of 40 minutes (may vary)

    Computer with internet access
   CD-ROMs

Teacher Notes:  Instructor must be knowledgeable on MLA format.
Procedures: 
1.  Discuss with students the importance of finding material that is current and reliable.

2.  Students search at least six different sources for information. For example, students can use
     search engines, online services, encyclopedias, materials on CD-ROMs, or any printed
     materials available in the media center.

3.  Teacher will give a handout of the most commonly used works cited forms.

4.  Students will read and evaluate the information they find.  They will print or photocopy
     it and write
     all the bibliographical information such as:
     author
     title
     place of publication
     publisher
     date
     page numbers
     url's and date of access

5.  Teacher will instruct on writing a numerically arranged working bibliography.

Modifications:
Handouts large print for students with visual difficulties
Use of video projector / LCD panel for visually impaired
Cooperative learning ( peer tutoring)
Extended time
Comply with individual's IEP

Enrichment Activities:
  Students will take a field trip to a local public or university library.
  Gifted students must search at least 10 sources.

Evaluation/Assessment:
Teacher checks for number of sources and correct format of working
     bibliography.
