Learner Outcomes:

At the conclusion of this lesson, the student will:

1. Identify timelines from post World War I through post World War II.

2. Analyze Quantitative Studies dealing with the occupation and liberation of France during World War II.

3. Create a brochure using Microsoft Publisher dealing with the D-Day Invasion.

Duration of Lesson: 1, 90 minute class period.
Materials:
1. Paper

2. Pen/Pencil

3. Timeline Handout

4. Timeline Question Handout

2. Microsoft Excel Software or Microsoft PowerPoint Software

3. Microsoft Publisher Software

4. Printer

Procedures:
1. Introduce the Lesson

2. Distribute Printed Copies of Timeline Handout.

3. Using Microsoft Excel or Microsoft PowerPoint, complete a Timeline on Occupation and Liberation of France during World War II.

4. Distribute Printed Copies of Timeline Questions.

5. Allow students time to research the assignment in class using the Internet.

6. Complete a Publisher Brochure of the D-Day Invasion.

7. Collect all completed materials.

Modifications:
1. A Touch Screen for Physically Impaired Students.

2. Additional time to complete the assignment will be permitted for Mentally Impaired Students.

3. Screen Magnifiers for Visually Impaired Students.

4. Increase Font Size and Format in Bold Lettering on all handouts for the Visually Impaired.

5. Use Blue Paper to decrease glare for Visually Impaired.

Enrichment Activities:
1. Using the Internet, students can take a virtual tour of the Arromanches Museum in Normandy, France

2. Students may also use the Internet to take a Virtual Tour of the American Cemetery in Normandy, France.

3. After viewing the movie Saving Private Ryan, complete the homework questions located at www.historyinfilm.com/ryan/homework.htm
