Duration of Lesson:  2, 90 minute class period.

Procedures:
1.  Introduce the Lesson

2.  Distribute Printed Copies of Bystanders, Resisters, and Rescuers Handout.

3.  Lecture/Discussion of listed concepts.

4. Students will then be given class time to research rescuers and write their essay.

5. Follow-Up Discussion after essays and research are completed.
Modifications:
1.  A Touch Screen for Physically Impaired Students.

2.  Additional time to complete the assignment will be permitted for Mentally Impaired Students.

3.  Screen Magnifiers for Visually Impaired Students.

4.  Increase Font Size and Format in Bold Lettering on all handouts for the Visually Impaired.

5.  Use Blue Paper to decrease glare for Visually Impaired.

6.  Consult Special Education Staff and review IEP and 504 Plans with that person.

Enrichment Activities:
1.  Students can create a foreign passport for themselves.  Passports must contain current picture, complete name, place of birth, date of birth, occupation, and date and place of issuance.

2. With knowledge gained from research, create contingency plans in order to hide someone from Nazi officials and prying local eyes.

3. View movies such as: Schindler’s List, The White Rose, Uprising, or Sophie’s Choice and write a critical review.
