TEACHER NOTES
Since this is a self-directed, independent study activity, it will be necessary
for the teacher to have prior knowledge of their students background in this
area of study. If the teacher feels their students need introduction and/or
reinforcement in this area, it will be necessary to prepare a learning activity
for the students.
PROCEDURES
1. Given a list of tasks, students will prioritize according to importance.
2. Students will complete a Goal Setting Activity.
3. Students will discuss the importance of becoming a lifelong learner.
4. Students will define: assertiveness and
initiative. They will participate in a
class discussion about how having these attributes can advance your position
in
the work force.
5. Students will bridge previously learned concepts
with a visit to a local
business and observe more experienced workers doing their jobs.
6. Students will develop a Powerpoint Point Presentation
entitled,
“Moving Up the Ladder to Success.”
7. Students will develop a plan of action to begin
a case study on a chosen
successful professional.
8. Students will interview a successful professional from their community.
9. Students will demonstrate the ability to gather,
manipulate, synthesize
and present information in a completed research project, “Success in my
Community.”
10. Students will write a 1-2 page essay in which
they will identify and
analyze ways top professional business leaders in their community obtained
current levels of success.
11. Students will deliver an oral presentation
to class. Incorporate
strategies for improvement advancement. Use completed Powerpoint
Presentation as a visual aid.
