Lesson One

LEARNER OUTCOMES
                    The student will understand the proper procedures for filling out a job
                       application.
                    The student will accurately complete a job application form using
                        correct grammar, spelling and accurate information.

DURATION OF LESSON
                    This lesson will take 1 -- 2 instructional periods.

                    Textbooks
                    Variety of Applications forms
                    Computer
                    Projection Device
                    Power Point Presentation

TEACHER NOTES
                    Remind students the day before this lesson is to be taught that they
                    must bring two (2) black pens to class.

PROCEDURES
                    1.    The student will  watch a Power Point Presentation detailing the
                    proper procedures of filling out a job application.

                    2.    Students will learn abbreviations commonly used on a job application.

                    3.    Students will learn vocabulary commonly used on a job application.

                    4.    The students will participate in a lecture/classroom discussion
                    reviewing the correct procedures for filling out an application.

                    5.    Classroom discussion will be held concerning general information on a
                    job application form.

                    6.    Classroom discussion will be held concerning the differences among
                    applications.

                    7.    Each student will complete a job application form.

                    8.    Each student will complete an exam on commonly used vocabulary.

                    9.    Each student will complete an exam on commonly used abbreviations.

MODIFICATIONS
                    See Individualized Education Plans for specific accommodations and/or
                    modifications to meet each student's needs.

ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES
                    Students will obtain application forms from two different employers.
                    Students will fill out both application forms.
                    Students will write a brief paper comparing and contrasting the two
                        applications.
