Learner Outcomes:
To provide ample time to schedule guest speakers, this session should begin approximately two weeks after the completion of Session One
Materials: Colored paper on which groups will write brainstorming ideas, overhead projector, transparencies.
Technology Tools/Courseware: Overhead projector.
Teacher Notes:
Working with the Career Education Instructor and using the information gathered from the discussion in Session One, arrange speakers for this session. The teacher may combine the first 60-minute segment of this session with the Career Education class.
Procedures:
60 minutes: Break up time equally among speakers.
20 minutes: Break students into groups to brainstorm physical activity log descriptors and topics for a life long fitness plan
¨ Groups will select a spokes person to share topics. Using the overhead projector, each spokesperson will record topics on a "master" transparency that can later be photocopied and distributed to all students.
10 minutes: Teacher will organize descriptors for physical activity log while students individually begin narrowing their ideas to two choices. The teacher will distribute a Physical Activity Log (created from student responses) to the students before they leave the classroom today.
Students are to submit two plan topic choices to the instructor before the next session. *Set a date for students to hand in plan topic choices*
Modifications: Made at the teacher's discretion following I.E.P. guidelines.
Enrichment Activities: None.
Evaluation/Assessment: Observe students and check for understanding.
