This may take 30 minutes or more depending upon which method is used.
Remainder of 1st 90 minute period and 2nd 90 minute period: Using the rough draft created in Session Four - In The English classroom students will type their Life Long Fitness Plan.
The printed draft will be graded for format and given to the English instructor for use in Session Six, the editing process.
Modifications: Made at the teacher's discretion following I.E.P. guidelines.
Enrichment Activities: None.
Evaluation/Assessment:
The business instructor will grade the printed report for MLA format and lack of typographical errors, and should be given at least one week to assess the report format before this unit progresses to Session Six.

Things to remember:
Teacher’s Name
Class
Date (10 Aug. 2011)
A header should appear on all pages, one-half inch from the top of the page. (View, Header and Footer) The header should appear at the right margin, and must include the student’s last name and the code for automatic page numbering (first button on the Header and Footer tool bar). Do Not forget to close the header tool bar when you have finished the header.
Before beginning the identifying information on the first page, change to double spacing (Format, Paragraph, line spacing, double). On a MLA report, one should not single or quadruple space. Do not return before typing the identifying information. This identifying information is the same as will be typed on the title page. Notice the correct format for the date: Day (space) Month—abbreviated to three letters (space) 4-diget year
The title (with important words capitalized) is centered a double space after the date. A double space must follow the title.
Remember the body of the report is double-spaced, ignore any notations in the keyboarding text indicating that parts should be single or quadruple spaced.
Some reports have side headings. A side heading is the topic of the next few paragraphs. If the report includes side headings, they are underlined, typed at the left margin, important words are capitalized, and a double space comes before and after. A side heading must appear on the same page as the paragraph that follows that particular side heading.
Some reports have paragraph headings. A paragraph heading is the topic of the paragraph. If the report includes paragraph headings, they are preceded by a tab, they are underlined, only the first character of the first word is capitalized, they are followed by a period and treated as though they were a sentence.
If a report contains a long quotation (normally four or more lines), the entire quotation should be indented 1” from the left margin. Some quotations have information omitted by the writer; in this case the quotation has an ellipsis. In the following example, a # is used to signify a space. An ellipsis at the end of a sentence uses four periods and is typed: word.#.#.#.## An ellipsis in the middle of a quotation uses three periods and is typed: word.#.#.word. An ellipsis at the beginning of a quotation uses three periods and is typed: .#.#.word **Please note: An ellipsis should never begin on one line and end on another; if this happens, replace the normal spaces with hard spaces.
Some reports contain numbered items. Always space once before typing numbers 0-9 in a numbered list that contains numbers higher than 9. Do not tab after the period that follows the number; use hanging indent to ensure that two spaces follow the period and that all text on the following lines line up with the first word of the numbered paragraph.

Title Page
Although true MLA format omits the title page, some instructors prefer that all papers have one. If a title page is required, follow these guidelines when preparing a title page:
1. Place the title page on a separate page using a next page section break. (A regular page break will not work)
2. Remove the header.
a. View the
header.
b. Click the
same as previous button on the tool bar to turn off the previous header.
c. Delete everything
from the header.
d. Close the
header tool bar.
3. Turn on center justification
4. Change to single spacing. If you do not, your identifying information will not begin on the correct line.
5. Change the top margin to 3.67
6. Key the title (only important words capitalized)
7. If using Times New Roman, 10 pt., return to 7.3” and type the same identifying information that appears on the first page of the report.
