Lesson 4 - Another One Bites the Dust!

Learner Outcomes:

Students will be able to delete objects from the computer.
Students will explore and manipulate the contents of the Recycle Bin.

Duration of Lesson: One 50-Minute Class Period

Materials:

Pencil
Lesson 4 Review Sheet

Technology Tools/Courseware:

Computer with Windows 98 operating system and Internet access
Windows 98 Notepad
Netscape Communicator
Digital Projector

Teacher Notes:

Students must have a signed Technology Acceptable Use form on file.

Procedures:

1.)     Tell the students how to double-click on the Netscape Communicator icon to access the Internet.
2.)     In the "Location" box, have students type the URL for The Solution Site (http://www.thesolutionsite.com).
         Find the unit called Surviving in Windows 98. Then select "Lesson 4 - Another One Bites the Dust!"
3.)     Have students follow the instructions and activities in Lesson 4.

Modifications:

Student IEPs will determine lesson modifications.
Advanced students will help students who are experiencing difficulties.

Enrichment Activities:

Students will access the Internet site "http://www.zdnet.com/windows/" and pick a different highlight tip about the desktop. Each student will individually make a presentation on the teacher station with the digital projector demonstrating the student's competence in successfully completing the task.

Evaluation/Assessment:

Successful completion of the lesson activities.
Correctly answering all questions on the Lesson 4 Review Sheet.
