The learner will become familiar with the scientific
and artistic contributions of Leonardo da Vinci to the Renaissance Period.

The learner will relate modern inventions to those
of Leonardo da Vinci.

The learner will be able to recognize da Vinci's inventions
and works of art and critique them with respect to evidence of his scientific
knowledge.
Duration of Lesson: Two 90 minute
block classes.
Technology:

Computers with internet access and power point
capabilities.

Projection devise for power point presentations.
Teacher Notes:

Power point presentation may be teacher made or student
assignment.

If the presentation is a student assignment, the instructor
may want to edit student products for presentation to class.

Student assigned presentations should be in the cooperative
learning format.

Secure internet permission forms for every student.

Reserve internet computer lab.
Procedures: Instructor should introduce
the lesson with a lecture
connection of art, science and history in the Renaissance
Period. This lecture should also provide background
information on Leonardo da Vinci. Students may then be
assigned to develop a PowerPoint presentation showing
examples of the art and inventions of da Vinci.
The instructor should collect and review these student
products (or prepare one themselves), and present to the
entire class. The final assignment should be a
written report by each student critiquing either an
invention or work of art by da Vinci with respect to his
artistic ability and scientific knowledge
Modifications: Lesson may be modified
to accommodate different levels of ability by adjusting the depth of the
power point and written assignment.
Evaluation/Assessment: Written assignments
and/or power point presentations.
