Synopsis:
       Students will be introduced to the genre of tall tales. Tall tales are literary works that provide enjoyment to a wide variety of audiences. They stretch the imagination through colorful figurative language and exaggerations. During the course of this unit, students will read several tall tales and be able to identify the elements of a tall tale. The unit includes a variety of activities that address subject areas across the curriculum. The unit of study will conclude with students experiencing tall tales through listening to a storyteller and becoming a storyteller, too.
