Title:   The Labors of Hercules

Learner Outcomes:   Students will  become knowledgeable of the legend of
                                     Hercules and his 12 Labors.

Duration of Lesson:  2-3 (45 min.) lessons

Materials:
    Books on Hercules
    Disney Movie - "Hercules" (Please follow copyright laws)
    Encyclopedias
    Websites
    Art Supplies (art paper, colored pencils, colored chalk)

Technology Tools:
    Internet
    VCR
    Student Computers/Lab

Teacher Notes:
    Students will need access to both the library and computer lab  during
    times other than designated class time.

Procedures:
    1.  Students will listen and summarize while the story of Hercules and his
         labors is being read by teacher or other students.
    2.  Students will watch a movie of Hercules. (ex.  Disney's version)
    3.  Students will then go to the The Labors of Hercules website or the library
         to retrieve additional information for report/art project.
    4.  Students will choose one of the labors that interests them and do a
         report/art project showing comprehension and  understanding of that
         labor.

Modifications:
    Teacher will modify lessons according to the students IEP and individual
    needs  of students.  Peer tutoring is a wonderful tool for certain students.

Enrichment Activities:
    Students can combine their reports/art projects to produce a book with all
    12 labors.  The report/art projects should include both written information
     gathered from use of internet websites and/or literary materials and art
     projects that could include pictures, graphs (as taught in Lesson 5) as
     examples.  It would be unique if 12 projects would be included to show
     all labors.
