AQUATIC  BIOMES

 

Grade Level: K-2

Subject: Science/Art/Technology

Learner Outcomes: Students will:

  1. Identify aquatic biomes.
  2. Classify plants and animals which are found in a specific aquatic biomes.


Duration of the Lesson: 45 minutes

Materials:  Power point presentation of aquatic biomes.;  Chart for classification of plants and animals for each aquatic biomes.; pictures of plants and animals to correlate with the chart.

Technology Tools/Courseware:  Computer, data projector, screen.

Teacher Notes: Create a learning center in your classroom with books and puzzles associated with aquatic biomes..  Include a variety of toy fish and sea creatures, sea shells, and a sand box in the learning center.


Procedure: 1. Present power point slide show of aquatic biomes..  Discuss each biome and the plants and animals that live there.
2. Have the students complete an aquatic biomes.

Modifications:  The complexity of the chart should be tailored to meet the needs of your students.

Enrichment Activities:  Play "Go Fish".  Explore related topics on an elementary multimedia encyclopedia or bookmarked internet site.  Have students write facts about the topic they explored and draw a picture of a plant or animal they viewed.
