Title: Resume Writing: Lesson 2

Grade Levels:  11, 12 and post-secondary

Subjects:  English Language Arts, Vocational Technical

Learner outcomes: Upon completion of this unit, the student will be able to:
1. Compose information about themselves contained on a resume

Duration of Lesson: One 45-minute class period.

Materials:

1. The student will decide what position they are seeking and complete their objective
2. The student will be introduced to the importance and purpose of a resume
3. The student will be introduced to the parts of the resume:
    Objective (state what type of position you are seeking)
    Personal information (name, address and phone number)
    Educational background ( graduated from what schools)
    Work experience ( full, part-time, volunteer, school activities, and skills)
    References ( at least two people who can vouch for your skills and abilities)
4. The student will use a skeletal resume form to hand-write an outline.

Completion of rough draft
Completion and printout of final resume
