Teacher Notes
- Other presentation software such as Hyperstudio could be
substituted for making the slide show.
- The amount of time required to complete this lesson is dependant
on the students' familiarity with PowerPoint. It is recommended
that students have some experience with PowerPoint and use the tutorial as a refresher. If
they have never used PowerPoint, you may want to set aside 6-8 sessions
prior to beginning this unit for them to practice creating
presentations.
Procedures
- Have students review the information gathered during the research
phase of this unit.
- Introduce or review how to create a PowerPoint presentation using
the tutorial.
- Allow students sufficient time to practice or review PowerPoint
skills.
- Review the rubric that will
be used to evaluate the final product.
- Allow students sufficient time to prepare their PowerPoint
presentation.
- Share PowerPoint presentations.
Modifications
- Take into account student comfort with technology in assigning
partners or groups. If you have students that already know how to
create PowerPoint presentations, pair them with students that don't.
- Adjust PowerPoint requirements to meet the needs of your students.
- Make adaptations to accommodate students' IEPs.
Enrichment Activities
- Add advanced features to the requirements for the PowerPoint
presentation.
- Plan a "Movie Opening" party and invite others to view your
presentations on India. Design and send out invitations, pop
popcorn, and have fun!
