Description:

     Once upon a time your class can journey to fairy tale land with The Little Red Hen.  Along the way, help her build and sort words according to word family patterns, peck"  the right order of events, plant seeds, bake bread, and learn the character traits of helpfulness and hard work around the hen house.  You determine the length of the trip, whether it be one day or up to five days.  So plan your journey now and live happily ever after.

Language Arts

  • The student will listen to a fairy tale.
  • The student will identify relationships between phonemes and graphemes while identifying beginning, medial, and ending position.
  • The student will read a fairy tale.
  • The student will identify the sequence of the story through an online quiz.
  • The student will read to perform a task from a recipe on the Internet.
  • The students will print and spell short e words.
  • The student will compare and contrast the two versions of the same story.

  • The student will recognize patterns in words and sort accordingly.

Duration of Lesson
The unit consist of 5 lessons.  Lesson times range from 45 minutes to 3 hours.
