Objective(s)
The students, in groups of three,
will put together a PowerPoint Presentation that includes
mathematical reasoning to support their design and present it to the
rest of the class as a teaching tool.
Time Required
Four 45 minute class
periods

Completed Lessons 1-4. Internet
Research, Algebra, Geometry.

Procedure
Students
will be put into groups of three. The teacher should show the
Final Project PPT and discuss with the students the varying
aspects of engineering (i.e., good pay, meeting needs of the community,
problem solving, etc.) and any other information they may want to add
to the PowerPoint. The time to do the project could vary depending
on the intellectual level of the students.
Differentiated Instruction
Some students may need more help from peer
tutors. Consult your students' IEPs for further modifications.
Collaboration
Science
and math teachers can work together to help students understand the
formulas used.

21st Century Assessment/Evaluation
Each group will present a five minute
PowerPoint presentation to the rest of the class defending their design
on the chosen project. A
Sample Rubric is provided that can be edited to accommodate your own
classroom's goals for the project. Let your students have input into
the creation of the assessment rubric to give them more ownership of the
project.
