ASSIGNMENT: Introductory Activity

#1 "A Quilting Bee" Discussion Group
#2 Have students go into computer
lab and log onto quia. Using the
following list of vocabulary terms, students will create a series of flash
cards, a word search, or a crossword puzzle. Students should
be prepared to print out a hard copy of their work.
Modifications:
- Since access to certain Internet sites may not be available at one time or another, it is advisable to have more than one site listed for students.
- Depending on the student's abilities/IEPs, the teacher may need to modify individual assignments.

- Students can be given a teacher generated vocabulary worksheet.
- Students could prepare a timed discussion for broadcast concerning a teacher approved topic from the "Quilting Bee"
- Students can prepare a panel discussion on myths and common misconception associated with HIV/AIDS.
Assignment #1: Use a typical grade scale assignment for student created activity.

Authors:
- Should an HIV positive athlete be allowed to participate in athletics? Are certain sports exempt?
- Should the family of an HIV positive student inform the school? Who needs to know? Why?
- Should sterile needles be distributed to injectable drug users to slow the spread of HIV?
- What's wrong with these statements?
