CATS GO VISITING

GRADE LEVEL: Grades 7 and 8

LEARNER OUTCOMES:

DURATION OF LESSON:

    Two 45 minute periods
    One day for the trip

MATERIALS:

    Survey Sheets
    Permission Slips
    Buses
    Calculators

TECHNOLOGY TOOLS/COURSEWARE:

    Multi-media Computers
    Printer
    LCD Panel
    Office 2000

TEACHER NOTES:

    The person in charge must have a permission slip and an emergency
    form from every student taking the trip.

PROCEDURES:

    First Period:

        1. The students will take a survey to decide which West Virginia
            College to visit. Results will be shown in a frequency table.
        2. The students will be divided into small groups to plan the trip.

    Second Period:

        1. Students will work in their groups to plan the trip.
            (Cost, mileage, meals, historical sites, etc.)
        2. Students will give an oral report on their findings.

    Third Period:

        1. The students will take a trip to their chosen college.

    MODIFICATIONS:

        1. Handicapped bus if needed.
        2. Make modifications according to students Individual Education
            Plan.
        3. Use peer assistance to help students who are having difficulty.

    ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES:

        1. Students will be encouraged to compare West Virginia Colleges
            with colleges outside West Virginia.

        Oral reports

            measurement.

            Pursues specific jobs.
