Iditarod Scavenger Hunt

Learner Outcomes:
1.  Students will search the Internet to answer questions about the Iditarod.
 

Duration of Lessons:
One 45 minute lesson

Materials:
Printed pages of questions to give to each student.

Technology tools/Courseware:
Internet accessible computers
Large screen projection device

Teacher Notes:
Students will be responsible for finding information on various Internet sites.

Procedures:
1.  Introduce the lesson by using the large screen projection device to show the students the features of the official Iditarod web site.
2.  Discuss the methods of using other web sites for search purposes.
3.  Students will work in groups of 2-3 to find answers to the scavenger hunt questions.

Modifications:
Peer tutoring to assist those students with limited reading ability.

Enrichment Activities:
Students may search for other Iditarod related sites and develop their own scavenger hunt questions.
