Teacher Notes:
Lesson:
Day 1
- Begin with a discussion by reviewing Lessons Two, Three, and Four. Be sure students have the materials from those lessons at their disposal.
- Explain to the students that they will be doing a five-slide power point presentation on those materials.
- Slide 1 - An introduction to their PowerPoint with title and student's name
- Slide 2 - Resume (can be copied from Resume Wizard and placed onto a slide)
- Slide 3 - Application
- Slide 4 - Interview (if a digital camera was used during the interviews, those pictures can be incorporated onto a slide)
- Slide 5 - A Wrap-Up of the Unit
- Tell the students to organize their thoughts and make a "plan" on paper as to what they will want to put into their power point presentation.
- The teacher may bring up the power point on a projection device from Lesson One as a guide.
Day 2, 3 & 4
- Using the "plan" from the first day, the students will begin their power point presentation.
- Bring up power point on the projection device. Have students follow your lead on the presentation device, especially if they have never done a power point presentation before.
- Select blank presentation.
- For the first page, select the last Auto Layout slide (blank slide).
- The students will then type the "title" of the presentation using WordArt.
- Below this, still on the title page, students will insert a text box and type their names. Show students how to change color, font, and font size.
- Be sure to have students select a background either through Presentation Designs or through the background fill selection. Both can be accomplished by right mouse clicking in the background of the slide. Be sure to show students if they select background fill the various options they have.
- This first slide is also a good slide to show the students how to add animation effects. Find the Animation Effects - probably under Common Tasks - by clicking on the yellow star icon, then clicking on the arrow, clock, sound icon.
- From there, students need to check the slide objects they wish to animate and the animation order they wish to use.
- Students then select entry animation and sounds they wish to use. At this point remind students to get their information down on each slide, then animate. This will ensure everyone gets the needed information into the presentation.
- The students need to insert five more slides using their "plan" from the first day.
- Be sure to save work daily, both to hard drive and a disk.
- Once each student's whole presentation is done, than he or she (depending on skill level) can set up their slide show for presentation to the class, using slide transition (automatic or mouse click), internet graphics and/or sound, and other options available in power point.
Modifications:
A rubric has been constructed to help the teacher evaluate and assess the students’ power point presentation.
