When students are
finished with the construction of their PowerPoint presentation, they need
to set up a convenient time to introduce it to another cooperating subject
area class.

personal property of Anne Yost and should not be duplicated.
Procedures:
1. Introduce
the unit with the handout entitled "Creative
Diversity." This activity will reinforce the idea that many different
and diverse ways of thinking were being tried during this "rebirth" of learning,
known as the Renaissance. Approximately one week before the teacher
expects to begin study on the Renaissance, students should be given this
handout and the materials associated with it. Students will present
their "inventions" during part of one class period on the designated day.
The teacher may want to display these projects in an area where they can
be viewed by the entire student body.
2. Research some aspect
of the Renaissance period to gain background information.
3. Construct a power
point presentation on their findings.
4. Demonstrate PowerPoint
presentation to the class and to other subject area classes involved with
the Renaissance Faire.
Modifications:
Students having
limited Internet research skills can find a tutorial at Beginners Central.
Lower level students
may need more assistance working through the research steps. Small group
work and peer tutoring should be considered as needed.
Visually impaired
students should work with larger fonts.
Enrichment
Activities:
Students could contract
for bonus points by expanding on their original research to create new
areas of focus ( for example: art display, a music center and/or floral designs)
for the Renaissance Faire.
Students could create
an interactive Internet research game.
Evaluation
Assessment:
Level of participation
in Renaissance Faire.
