how to lessen the extent of a basketball injury

the injuries that happen to them to the injuries that occur to professional
athletes.

Procedures:
1) Have students interview
local doctors about the most common type of injuries they see during the
basketball season.
2) Students will interview
boy and girl basketball team members to see if they have experienced injuries,
and if so which ones.
3) Compile data from student
surveys.
4) Search the internet
for statistics on professional basketball injuries.
5) Compare student data
to professional data
6) Search internet for
information on how to prevent sports injuries
7) Prepare a report with
charts and graphs on sports injuries; how often they occur and how to prevent
them
Modifications:
1) Provide extra time
for students as mandated by the iep.
2) Allow for peer tutoring/
paired assignment.
3) Alter assignment(s)
as called for in iep.
Enrichment:
1) Have a nurseor a doctor
come in and speak about sports injuries.
2) Have school trainer
come in and demonstrate how injuries are treated during a game.
3) Have students try to
do simple tasks while wearing a splint, or sling or other injury treatment
to see how hard simple things become.
4) Have students create
brochures on sports injuries.
