Lesson 3

Grade Level:  5th grade

Subject:  Language Arts, Science, Social Studies

Learner Outcomes: The student will develop a Power Point presentation based on research completed in prior lesson.

Duration of Lesson: Two to three 45 minute sessions, depending on student knowledge of Power Point

Materials: Rubric for grading Power Point presentations

Technology Tools: Microsoft Power Point, Power Point Tutorial, computer with Internet access,  multimedia projector

Teacher Notes:  Students must have prior knowledge of Power Point Presentations before starting this Unit.  Students may review using the Power Point Tutorial.  Invite computer literate volunteer to serve as student mentor during the Power Point Presentation activity. 

Procedures: 

  • Return group research report.
  • Review steps in completing a Power Point Presentation  by  using the Power Point Tutorial displayed on a multimedia projector.
  • Working in their research group from lesson 2, students  will go to Microsoft Power Point and develop their own Power Point Presentation using the research material they collected previously.
  • Students will present completed Power Point Presentation to their peers, narrating and answering questions as needed.
Modifications:  Assign students to work with peer helper or volunteer mentor and other modifications according to IEP.

Enrichment Activities: Students will present their Power Point Presentations to parent, community or other students groups.
