4. Complete worksheets answering literal, interpretive, and critical
questions from this novel.
5. Come to an understanding of what magic has to do with the novel.
6. Understand the importance of positive thinking.
7. Understand the difference between what is real and what is an illusion.
8. Understand that taking care of one's self is essential to having
a happy life.
9. Share with the class the goal they have worked on to raise their
self-esteem.
10. Enter relevant information into their notebooks.
11. Continue writing in journals.
12. Continue monitoring their experiments

1. Teachers should modify the lesson as necessary to meet the students
IEP requirements.
2. Cassette tapes of the novel should be made available to students
who have difficulty reading.
3. Peer tutoring should be made available to students who have difficulty
reading.
4. Teachers should determine the needs for student assistance based
on Inclusion and request a special education teacher
when needed.
Enrichment Activities:
1. Students will continue to work on powerpoint presentations to be
presented at the conclusion of this unit
2. Students may use on scene from The Secret Garden and present it
as a play. They should add sound effects to make it
interesting for the class.
