TOBACCO HISTORY

class periods (50 minutes each)

of white art papermarkers

Teacher Notes:

Make sure all materials are gathered
and ready before class begins.

Have paper taped to the wall prior
to beginning of class.

Be sure groups are evenly selected.
Procedures:
-
Place students into 4 groups (one
for each category).
-
Go to the computer lab to access
information on the four topics: early,
middle, modern,
andlegal
history of tobacco.
-
Take notes in journal.
-
Have open class discussion on
what you have learned.
-
Review in social studies textbook
a time line.
-
Each group will then put their
plots on the time line
wall mural.
-
Each student will choose ten to
fifteen events that they feel are the most important.
-
Using Microsoft Word Excel, they
will create a time line individually.
Modifications:
-
Make necessary adjustments for
students with special needs according to their IEP.
Enrichment Activities:

You may use the individual time
line as an enrichment activity
